For the past five seasons we, as coaches, have been very fortunate to have a great group of boys play for EG CYO. Most of these boys started with EG in 5th grade. Cooper, T.J., Jack, Jake, Adain, Jalan, Justin, Ryan O., Ryan N, Evan and Nussy just finished a great season by winning the 8th grade CYO Championship played over two weekends at Cohoes Middle School.
EG defeated Duanesburg in the Semis 36-24, holding Duanesburg to just 8 points in the second half.
In the finals we faced St Augustine, a team that beat us four days earlier in the championship game of the St Henry's Tour .59-52.. The Championship game was a great game, both teams were well prepared. St Augustine lead most of the game and had a 6 point lead with four minutes to play. EG tied the game with 30 seconds left, sending the game into overtime. In OT our defense stepped up and the boys went on to win the championship 44-39. This was a team effort all season and and honor well deserved.
Congratulations goes out to our Girls 5th/6th CYO team, defeating St. John's to capture the Holy Spirit Tournament Championship on Thursday, February 5th. Way to go girls!

While many were home during the snowstorm on February 2nd, our 8th Grade Capital District Boys team took to the court at the Times Union Center in a game against the Bison of North Colonie. A fun time was had by all, followed by a pizza party at the arena and culminating in a Siena Saints Men's Basketball victory over MAAC opponent Rider.
This tradition has been revived and we look forward to seeing all of our 8th Grade teams (Boys AND Girls) take part in this wonderful opportunity, at the end of their EGBA/EGGBA youth basketball careers.
Thank you to the East Greenbush Basketball Association, all of it's volunteers and concessions for making this event possible. Best of luck to all who participate in the future.
